New Hampshire Aquarium Society

( NHAS )

The New Hampsire Aquarium Society is a non-profit group made up of people that have a common interest in marine and freshwater life and systems. We meet on the second Wednesday of each month from September through June. Our meetings are held at Somersworth High School / Technical school.

Each meeting consists of a raffle, a bowl show ( nothing fancy, vote for the fish you like the best ), refreshments, a speaker and/ or a demonstration and a mini auction of about ten to twenty items made up of fish and dry goods. Interspersed with all of this is plenty of time for 'fish talk'. Our membership has varied interests, some salt but mostly fresh water. From no tanks to far more than are reasonable. Young and old.

We also plan a summer get-together each year. Past events have included wonderful BBQs at Odiorne State Park, trips out to the Isle of Shoals to take a look at their research facility and to spend the day enjoying the island. One summer we took the train to Boston and had a ' behind the scenes ' tour of the New England Aquarium. If this sounds interesting to you, we would like to invite you to join us for a meeting or two.

We will do all we can to try and make you feel welcome.
