Surprising everyone, Yuji immediately healed himself using the reverse cursed technique that he just learned.
Sukuna realizes he is really irritated by Yuji’s indomitable spirit and ideals, and he declares that he’ll crush those ideals before killing Yuji. Before the fight continues, a Kogane appears, announcing that Megumi Fushiguro holds the authority to start the merger. Yuta joins the battlefield too right after the announcement.

Yuta kills Kenjaku in chapter 249, titled “Inhuman Makyo Shinjuku Battle 21.”
Yuta fought Kenjaku before showing up in front of Sukuna. Kenjaku attacks Yuta with his shikigamis, but Rika takes care of all of them. Before leaving the world, Kenjaku adds a new rule to the culling game revealed in the previous chapter.
We return to the present time, where Yuta notices that it is just a matter of time before Sukuna can use his domain again. He ponders on the death of Higuruma and whether it was necessary to leave the “Executioner’s Blade” plan to counter Kenjaku’s surprise attack.
An intense fight commences where Sukuna, Rika, and Yuta share blows for a few pages. Yuta unleashes his Domain Expansion True Love. Sukuna surrounds himself with a Hollow Wicker Basket.
Yuta causes some damage to Sukuna and decides that everything will be decided in this very domain. Sukuna understands how Yuta’s domain works and how much he has to work to protect himself from the domain’s cursed technique.
He also acknowledges Yuji’s presence in the domain and how his attacks will be difficult to defend from in the present situation. Sukuna gets excited and says he is glad that Yuji is given a role.
3. Chapter 249 Speculation
I. Yuji’s New Powers
Yuji Itadori, the real protagonist of the show, is finally getting what he deserves. He unlocked the reverse cursed technique, which is nearly impossible even for most special-grade sorcerers, but the surprises don’t end there. The hint of scales growing from his arms was revealed a lot of chapters ago, but lately, that small detail has been almost unnoticeable. In this chapter, though, the scales were much more evident after he used RCT for the first time.
II. Fushiguro Megumi’s Survival
Fushiguro Megumi’s current status is unknown even after chapter 249. Whether he’s alive or deceased is a big question to the entire Jujutsu Kaisen fandom. What happened in chapter 249 might be a hint to his condition. Kogane said that “fushiguro Megumi” has the authority to activate the merger, not Ryomen Sukuna, even when Sukuna has manifested his true body.
It might mean that Megumi is alive and holds authority instead of Sukuna. If that happens to be the case, why Kenjaku made such a move is a huge mystery. Knowing Kenjaku, it seems a bit out of place that he would hand over such authority to Sukuna.
III. Yuta Enters the Fight
After killing Kenjaku, Yuta finally returns to help the others. He jumps into the fight with Rika. Since the very early chapters of the manga, it has been stated Yuta is second only to Gojo Satoru in this modern age of sorcery, and he holds immense untapped potential. So, this will surely be a huge advantage on the sorcerer’s side. Let’s just hope Sukuna doesn’t have some “Anti Rika cursed technique” up his sleeve that he hasn’t had to use before. To be honest, knowing the author, he might as well possess something like that.
4. Chapter 248 Recap
At the end of chapter 247, Yuji tried to stab Sukuna from behind with the executioner’s sword. After such a long break we finally found out the outcome of that. Yuji ultimately failed to stab him as Sukuna dodged it by an inch and immediately threw two consecutive slashes at Yuji after punching him away.
After throwing the slashes, he thought Yuji was done since he did not know how to use the reverse cursed technique. He looked at Higuruma’s dead body only to see Kirara and Ui Ui retrieving it. For the first time, Ui Ui’s cursed technique was revealed to the readers. He possesses the power to teleport himself instantly and whatever he holds. It was also revealed that earlier, he retrieved Gojo’s body, too.
Right after this, the fans witness a very anticipated moment: Itadori Yuji’s power-up. Sukuna looks at him as he fully healed himself using the reverse cursed technique that he had learned in just 2 months. This puts him right beside Higuruma in terms of potential. Sukuna was lost in thought as he was clearly irritated by the fact that Yuji was back again. After a lot of thinking, he finally realized the cause.
The reason for his irritation was clearly Yuji’s lack of power. Not exactly that, but what annoys Sukuna is that even when he doesn’t hold a candle to sukuna’s own strength, he still has that indomitable spirit that gets him back up every time. The same happened when Gojo got sealed, Mojito killed his close ones, etc., but he got back up every single time.
In the many years of his life, Sukuna had never witnessed something like this and decided that rather than killing Yuji, he’d slash this spirit of his that he was proud of. But before the fight began again, a bright light shone in the sky, and a kogane appeared. It announced the addition of a new rule, which was –
“Megumi Fushiguro has the authority to activate the merger of humankind by Tengen”
This might merely be Kenjaku’s backup plan, but this placed immense strength in Sukuna’s hands and gave the sorcerers one more reason to end him right there. Sukuna declares that first, he’d kill all of them present there, then after the merger, he’d toy with those that become strong. Just then, Yuta jumped onto the battlefield with Rika. The chapter ends with Sukuna being fascinated to see the queen of curses.
